Whatever tasks are thrown at you as bestman, everyone knows that organising the stag do is by far the most important job.
The following explanation of a stag do is not far from the mark:
“A stag do is the last chance to go away with your best mate before he settles down and has babies, after that he can kiss goodbye to weekends away with the boys*”
*Get out clause – unless he has a very easy going/understanding wife or he gets an annulment straight after the wedding.
This celebration needs to be a killer stag do, a bulletproof plan to get your best mate; wasted, elated, excited and satisfied.
So how do you go about organising such a mammoth event?
First things first, get the budget from the groom, he should know what his mates can afford, there’s no point arranging a stag do that only you and the groom and posh Tarquin can afford.
The group getting wrecked by 4pm ruins many stag dos, so to help your group stick the pace, a stag activity or two on the Saturday is a good call.
Motorised activities are usually the top choice; Rage Buggies, Quad Biking, Mini Racing or even Powerboating are very popular.
If you prefer to shoot something such as clays, zombies or even each other, then a stag do is the perfect time to get that trigger-happy streak out.
So tick, booking an activity for the daytime is a cracking idea.
Moving on to the nighttime, having a nightclub sorted at the end of the night should always be your end game, everything up until that point can be a little loose and free.
This is where you need to gauge from your group what they’re into, if they like to sit down, chat and have a good meal, then booking a restaurant for one or both nights should be done.
If they just want to get on it, a bar/pub crawl with a quick trip to a fried chicken house in between should be your game plan.
If the groom has the need for flesh, the a trip to a lap dancing club should always be on the cards.
Don’t forget organising a kitty once the first round has been requested is a must, not only does it keep the boys together it also keeps everything fair – if big Brian wants a shot everyone should have a shot!
Pick your accommodation wisely, the last thing you want is stag do members preferring to stay in another hotel, as the hotel you have chosen is awful and has less stars on Tripadvisor then a cardboard box under a flyover.
Remember cheap is not always cheapest, picking a hotel which is 4 miles out of town because it was £5 cheaper can be a expensive mistake, taxi fares usually work out a lot more than what you’ve saved.
Then you have the fancy dress or personalised t-shirts, before picking your theme make sure all the venues you have on your itinerary are OK with it, after putting a lot of effort into a fancy dress costume it would be the worst thing to have to go back to the hotel and change especially if its miles out, or like at school doing the whole thing in your socks and pants, and by the way that’s not a fancy dress theme!
